Madrid in Easter: Visits from March 26 to Abril 07The Easter is one of the traditions more rooted in our country. And Madrid is not other people’s to her. The city changes to its habitual rate between Wednesday santo and the Sunday of resurrection to commemorate the passion of Christ. They are days for silence, the withdrawal. And also days to enjoy the numerous processions that flood the streets and that enjoy great devotion between the Madrilenians. The costaleros remove to shoulders steps properly engalanados for the occasion. Peculiar faithfuls and approach them to follow them slowly, to send to them some piropo and to intone a saeta or to say some oration. The center of Madrid, where the processions take place most of, is a swarm of people arrivals of all parts of the world (the tourists, do not want to lose it to it), that aspire to take the best site to follow so popular celebrations close by, that they are developed by territories of Spain from century XV.
The tradition in Madrid continues in the churches and audiences, with interesting programs of concerts, and, mainly, in the tables, with some plates and candies that are only tasted in these dates. Among them it emphasizes the potaje of watch, a homemade stew with chick-peas, spinach and codfish, that abstinence respects to eat meat in these days. The golosos have an ample repertoire where to choose: from typical torrijas (fried bread happened through beaten egg, with sugar and cinnamon), pestiños, famous small meat pies… and monas of Passover, chocolate, native of Catalonia but with great acceptance in Madrid.
