One of the best museums in the world
This gallery in Madrid has the most complete collection of Spanish painting from 11th-18th centuries, and many masterpieces by great universal artists such as El Greco, Velázquez, Goya, Bosch, Tiziano, Van Dyck and Rembrandt.
Overview of Velázquez Gate
The quality and variety of its collection makes the Prado Museum one of the world’s finest. It brings together the best collection of Spanish painting, the most important works of Flemish and Italian painting, and noteworthy examples of the German, French and English schools. Here you can admire masterpieces of universal art such as Velázquez’ “Maids of Honour”, Goya’s “Majas”, El Greco’s “Nobleman with a hand on his chest”, Bosch’s “Garden of Delights”, and Rubens’ “The Three Graces”, amongst other priceless pieces. Although the museum was created to house painting and sculpture, it also has major collections of drawings, engravings, coins and medals, as well as items of sumptuous and decorative art.

General admission: €6. Reduced: €3 (EU citizens from large families (more than three children); Youth Card holders; non-EU students (under 25 years); cultural and educational groups by prior appointment). Free: Sundays, over 65s, retired persons and pensioners through permanent disability (disabled person only), unemployed EU citizens, staff of Spanish state museums, Spanish and overseas tourist guides, teachers of subjects related with Museum content, ICOM (International Council of Museums) members, EU students (under 25 years), under 18s, 2 May, 18 May, 12 October and 6 December.
